Basic Media Skills

The world of digital broadcasting, citizen journalism, 24 hour news and social networking, poses new challenges for organisations everywhere. But with the challenges come opportunities.

This half-day course is designed for people who have little experience of dealing with the media but are keen to equip themselves to meet the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.

With the right skills, you can turn almost any situation to your advantage. With proper training, you can identify new ways to promote your organisation.

Our ‘Basic Media Skills’ course is suitable for people who deal occasionally with the media: councillors, business people, community workers and members of the clergy. It will introduce you to new ways of making the media your friend.

• The Media Landscape
• Identifying Your Message
• Writing Press Releases
• Preparing for Radio and Television Interviews
• More experienced people might wish to consider Leapfrog’s full-day communication skills course, “Getting your Message Across”.

“It was great to have an experience of radio time without it being broadcast live…”
